In what is considered some of the earliest digitally generated works of art, Larson's Fireflies series utilizes state-of-the-art FAX technology from 1969 to create "electronic montages."

Filling clear plastic sleeves with clippings of text and images, Larson would load them into a Graphic Sciences Dex 1 Teleprinter (think fancy fax machine), which would convert the compositions into digitally-generated audio signals. Larson would then manipulate those signals to alter the final transmission, resulting in a unique series of work.

The exhibition takes its name from a spark produced during the final process of burning the final product onto carbon paper.
